Eagle Editions | EC97: Ju 87 G Stuka Stab SG 2 and 10./SG 2
Reviewed by Mark Proulx
Eagle Editions has just released a pair of new decal sheets for the Ju 87G. These decals are coordinated with the release of the new Stuka from Hasegawa. This is a review of the first of two new 1/32nd scale decal sheets. EC#98 is reviewed elsewhere on LSP.
Markings are provided for two Ju 87G-2s from SG 2. The first option is the final Stuka flown by Oberst Hans-Ulrich Rudel and Hptm. Ernst-August Niermann. Though similar, these markings are not to be confused with those in the kit as they represent an earlier aircraft. These new markings are for W.Nr 494110, which Rudel would purposely crash land while surrendering at Kitzingen on May 8th, 1945 at the end of the war.
The second Stuka is also a G-2 variant. T6+NU is W.Nr. 494221 also assigned to10 Staffel of SG 2. The pilot for this aircraft is unknown.
Both aircraft are finished in a pattern of RLM 65/70/71 and were fitted with the impressive 37mm underwing cannons. The instructions provide complete painting details utilizing superb color profile work from Tom Tullis. This includes upper, lower and side views. Common stenciling information is also included. Modelers wanting further references should consult Wings of the Black Cross Number Three, also available from Eagle Editions.
The decals are printed on a single page. They include stencils and national insignia for a single aircraft. I anticipate no problem when applying the decals.
Eagle Editions continue to provide well-researched and unique alternatives to kit supplied decals. I am sure these decals will become strong sellers and I recommend them without hesitation.
Review Sample Compliments of Eagle Editions.
