Hobby Decal | 1/32 F-15 Panel Numbers
Reviewed by Mark Proulx
Hobbydecal has released a set of 1/32nd scale F-15 panel numbers. This set supplements the F-15A/C and F-15E Strike Eagle Stencils also currently available in the same scale.
Instructions (scans not shown with this review) are comprehensive and show complete four views of the F-15A/C and F-15E. As stated by Hobbydecal, some of these stencils are not applicable to every type of aircraft and additional references should be checked. All areas of the aircraft are clearly shown including such items as drop tanks, pylons and inner surfaces of the speed brake. Due to the magnitude of the stencils to be applied, modelers would be wise to work slowly and study the instructions very carefully.
These markings are all dry transfer. That means that each individual placard has to be burnished onto the surface of the aircraft. There are pros and cons to this type of marking that modelers will have to decide upon. This leaves no unsightly carrier film that is visible with many other water slide placards. However, each marking has to be correctly placed, as there are no second chances. The panel numbers are printed in perfect quality and easily read. The scans attached to this review really don’t do justice to the clarity of these dry transfer markings. I believe this entire line of placards to be among the finest printed stencils currently available.
Modern jet aircraft are liberally covered with data placards. Hobbydecal appears to have all the markings for the F-15 adequately covered. I am sure that these markings will take many hours to apply, but the finished result should be a very accurate F-15!
Review sample compliments of Hobbydecal.
