Several years ago, I submitted an article on my build of the old Matchbox Dauntless. The build included many scratch-built features, including a completely new cockpit- Dauntless article. When I was building this, I was still experimenting with new weathering techniques and was too scared to try them out on this rare model.

The other point that bothered me was the engine. A year or so after the model was completed, an accident in my cabinet badly damaged this and several other models. The accident prompted me to make attempt at improving it yet again. I purchased a resin engine from Roberts Models and set about detailing it and fitting to the old plane.

Once this was done, along with all the rest of the repairs, I began the scary process of weathering.
