Warbirds | Mosquito Canopy
Reviewed by Mark Proulx
Warbirds Productions has just released a new 1/32nd scale canopy set for the Revell Mk IV Mosquito. This vacuformed set is designed as a replacement for the inaccurate clear parts supplied in the box.
Falcon, a well-known vacuforming company, creates these new parts for Warbirds. Their clear parts are among the best aftermarket canopies available today and these new parts live up to that reputation. They are crystal clear and void of any imperfections. The set consists of a single piece canopy, nose cone, landing light covers and forward fuselage side windows. The pieces are vacuformed from thick, clear styrene and appear to be very sturdy. This is always welcome when cutting out the clear parts, as they are able to withstand that task without damage.
The canopy is designed to fit the kit fuselage without modification. Framing is represented by very fine raised detail, which should aid greatly when masking. Matching the canopy, the nose cone is perfectly clear. The forward fuselage side windows are supplied as direct replacements for the kit pieces. However, this doesn't correct the window shape as supplied by Revell.
Warbirds offers an increasing line of aftermarket items for the 1/32nd scale Revell Mosquito. This canopy set is a very welcome addition. I recommend this set without hesitation and I am sure that modelers wishing to add improved detail their kits will not be disappointed.
Review sample compliments of Warbirds Productions.
