Aeropoxy | 1/32 Cool Masks Range
Reviewed by Saso Knez
Nenad Miklusev, the owner of Aeropoxy, decided to issue a range of spray masks for Yugoslav aircraft of all periods in 1/32 scale. With the masks you get the pre-cut masks and instructions how to place and use them.
The instructions sheet is a sheet of paper with the instructions for use on one side and the colour and placing information on the other. This information is correct and as a bonus FS numbers for colours are also given.
These masks were first drawn in Corel Draw, then the foil was cut with a computer controlled cutter. The foil is a high quality low-tack film. The masks are reusable for a few sessions and will not peel paint.
How to use them?
First you must make several of these masks. For such a complex insignia as is the one of the Royal Yugoslav Air Force five of them must be made. First you must cut out the large circle for the red colour, then the smaller one for the white circle, even smaller for the light blue and then two more for Kosovo crosses.
Fabricating a spray mask is an easy process.
First you must cut out the mask. at this time also prepare a lager piece of paper on which you will place the self adhesive mask.
See what part of the mask you need and discard the negative side. Then tack the mask on the piece of paper.
And place the whole thing on the model. The pre-cut mask offers the correct out-line and the sheet of paper reduces the chance of overspray.
CONCLUSION
Why should we use the Aeropoxy Cool Masks:
The main reason is the 'painted on' look of insignias. This cannot be achieved by decals no matter how good they are.
The second equally important reason is that there is an absolute lack of these insignias in the decal form. This is especially true for our scale.
The price is also very reasonable compared with the work involved.
If you have the patience and desire to build a Yugoslavian aicraft, then have no doubt about using these sets. I give it a thumb-up.
