Scale Caliber | SCCD01: 1:32nd U.S. WWII Carrier Deck
Reviewed by Jay Laverty
Ask and ye shall receive, as the saying goes. Robin Carpenter who owns Cammett and I were discussing possible projects and we discussed some Carrier Deck for 32nd scale as we couldn't think of anyone who had done it thus far. The problem was going to be finding a medium to do the deck in that would be both easy to work with, while still looking the part. By breaking it down into a simple process of laying balsa planking with photo-etched "tie down" strips interspersed at appropriate points, building this up does not take a great deal of time. Robin is also looking into having the decking cast into lightweight resin.
The surfaces were painted using White Ensign Models flight deck stain 21 (product code: wemcc US11).
For the price of £14.95 ( $27.15 USD ) you receive 55 planks and 6 tie-down strips which is more than enough to re-create the deck as you see it here.
