MDC | CV32015 Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-6 Treaded Tires in 1/32nd scale
Reviewed by Mark Proulx
Model Design Construction (MDC) offers many aftermarket resin sets for the 1/32nd scale Bf 109G. Among the items they produce are two types of wheels with corrected hubs. Hasegawa supplies treaded wheels in their Bf 109G kit. The resin wheels from MDC are designed to be direct replacements for the kit parts.
Two resin replacement wheels are shipped in a plastic bag without instructions. Due to the simplicity of this installation, instructions are unnecessary. As with other MDC products, the casting is very good.
There is no extra work to perform as the holes to accept the axles are pre-drilled. The tires are slightly flattened with no overstated bulge being visible as we so often see. Small casting blocks are visible and attached at the flattened portion of the tire. This should be easily cleaned up. The tread pattern is perfectly reproduced and the hubs carry plenty of additional detail as compared to the kit parts.
The Bf 109G went through a number of changes in its operational life including different types of tires and hubs. Modelers would be well advised to check their references very closely when trying to determine the correct wheel assemblies required. For those modelers wanting to add some additional details to their Bf 109, this would prove to be a very simple modification. The wheels are superior to those supplied in the kit I would recommend these or any other MDC products; see my previous review on Smooth Tires with Correct Hubs.
