Eagle Editions | EC115: 1/32 Spitfire Mk IX
Reviewed by Mark Proulx
Eagle Editions continues to broaden their decal line with exciting new releases for the Pacific Coast Models Spitfire Mk IX in 1/32nd scale. In all, three new sheets providing nine schemes are available to the large scale builder.
EC#115 provides three schemes of differing nationalities:
- 2I-E, MK636 flown by Canadian ace S/L Wally McLeod
- YO-R, BS104 flown by Canadian pilot F/O T.K. Ibbotson
- ZX-1, EN459 from the Polish Fighting Team
As with all instruction sheets from Eagle Editions, complete notes are included. They incorporate brief details on each aircraft with comprehensive camouflage scheme details. All references are clearly identified allowing modelers to make their own assumptions on each scheme as they see fit. Upper and lower profiles are depicted, as are complete stencil placement drawings. Careful attention needs to be given to the instructions. They capture many of the subtle differences that were added to The Mk IX in its production run.
Micro Scale prints the decals over two pages. This includes complete stencil placards and national insignia. They appear to be printed in perfect register and I anticipate little problem with them.
So far, most reports are favorable about the new PCM Spitfire. Given its popularity I am sure the new schemes from Eagle Editions will prove to be strong sellers. They have provided a mix of schemes with colorful nose art and various types of invasion stripes. I am sure they will satisfy a broad spectrum of modelers and I recommend them without hesitation.
Review Sample Compliments of Eagle Editions.
