Eagle Editions | EC106: 1/32 P-47D Thunderbolt
Reviewed by Mark Proulx
Eagle Editions has just released comprehensive sets of 1/32nd scale P-47 decals. Designed for use with the new Hasegawa kit, this is a review of the third of four currently planned releases.
There are two colorful P-47D options to choose from, both fitted with a bubbletop canopy:
- The Trojan Warhorse, P-47D-27-RE, SN Unknown, 79th FG
- Whoooooo, P-47D-26-RA, SN 4228382, 405th FG
The instructions are highly detailed complete with photographic coverage making them a valuable reference source. This format allows the modeler to make their own camouflage and marking assumptions using the enclosed images as a guide.
The instructions list complete references should the modeler choose to further study both aircraft. Also included are painting details and some features of each aircraft identifying various prop and dorsal fin choices.
Similar to EC 105 reviewed elsewhere on LSP, Tom Tullis provides simple line art profiles. Also included are complete stencil placement details.
Microscale prints the markings over two pages. They are in perfect register with minimal carrier film and I expect no problems with them.
Arguably, Republic's P-47 was decorated with some of the most colorful artwork applied to European based fighter aircraft. Eagle Editions is supplying some unique and colorful schemes that I am sure will entice any modeler with an interest in that theater of operations. I recommend this new decal sheet without reservation.
Review Sample Compliments of Eagle Editions.
