airscale | Placard Decals in 1/24 & 1/32
Reviewed by Kevin Futter
Airscale entered the aftermarket decal field in 2010 with a much-needed range of cockpit instrument and panel decal sets. Their second round of releases sees the range expanding in both scope and scale, with many sheets now available in 1/48 scale. What is of more interest to LSP modellers, however, is the introduction of cockpit placard decals in both 1/32 and 1/24 scales. The photo above shows the following sheets:
- AS32 WWI Instrument Dial Decals
- Generic WW1 Instrument Dial Decals
- 1/32 Scale
- AS32 USA Instrument Dial Decals
- Generic WW2 USAAF Instrument Dial Decals
- 1/32 Scale
- AS32 USN Instrument Dial Decals
- Generic WW2 US Navy Instrument Dial Decals
- 1/32 Scale
- AS24 PLA Cockpit Placard Decals
- Generic WW2 Allied Cockpit Placard Decals
- 1/24 Scale
- AS32 PLA Cockpit Placard Decals
- Generic WW2 Allied Cockpit Placard Decals
- 1/32 Scale
Package Contents:
The instructions that accompany each sheet should be more than adequate for anyone with a modicum of decal-placement experience. Evident in the photograph below is the crisp and detailed printing courtesy of Fantasy Printshop:
Due care will need to be taken when cutting these out for use, as they're very closely packed.
The utility of these sets is self-evident, and they fill a small but neglected niche for LSP modellers. The inclusion of 1/24 scale sheets is particularly welcome.
Airscale decals are currently available from the their website at www.airscale.co.uk. Thanks to Airscale for the review samples.
