Twobobs Aviation Graphics | A-7E Corsair in 1/32nd Scale VA-22
Reviewed by Mark Proulx
Twobobs Aviation Graphics has just released new decals for the new A-7E Corsair II from Trumpeter in 1/32nd scale. These markings were applied after Operation Praying Mantis, an operation in 1988 against units of the Iranian Navy in the Straits of Homuz
Two interesting and seldom seen schemes are provided for aircraft operating off the USS Enterprise. The first, BuNo 160537 is finished in a multi tone gray pattern. The second aircraft is BuNo 158013 finished in multiple shades of brown.
A single page of instructions is included. It provides complete painting details incorporating four overall views and color chips. This should greatly assist with these complex camouflage patterns. No thumbnails are provided of the aircraft. Detailed notes are provided about Operation Praying Mantis providing further insight into what was called "the largest American sea battle since World War II".
The decals are printed over two pages. The smaller decal sheet with the words Navy and small ship silhouette has not been shown for this review. Both sheets appear in perfect register with enough markings to complete a single aircraft. Unfortunately, some of the white markings do not show up clearly with the associated scan.
Twobobs Aviation Graphics continues to provide colorful and accurate decal choices for modern military jet aircraft. I am sure by now that many modelers have given their decals a try and they will continue to be popular with the large scale model builder.
Review sample compliments of Twobobs Aviation Graphics.
