Twobobs Aviation Graphics | F-15C Eagles in 1/32nd scale Eglin's Gorillas 32-017

Reviewed by Mark Proulx

This the first review examining the three new 1/32nd scale release from Twobobs Aviation Graphics. This new decal sheet provides markings for F-15C Eagles from the 58th Fighter Squadron based at Eglin AFB.

Twobobs Aviation Graphics provide among the very best decal instructions on the market. They are printed on a single page of high quality gloss paper. Profiles are printed providing the modeler with left, right, top and bottom views of the aircraft. This is a real benefit as it takes out much of the decal placement questions that are often confronted. There are 13 thumbnail photos of the aircraft to augment the color profiles. Though small, they do showcase many of the individual details.

The instructions provide painting details for each aircraft referenced to Testors, Humbrol and Gunze Sangyo paint lines. As an added bonus, there is a brief history of the 58th Fighter Squadron and its association with the F-15 Eagle.

Decals are provided for three different F-15Cs among them BuNo 85-0102, a triple kill aircraft assigned to the squadron. I believe Microscale prints the decals, though no copyright information is visible on the decal sheet. Modelers should observe that one of the national insignias is printed in a lighter color and careful consideration should be given to its proper location. Note: the single large decal sheet is accompanied with a smaller insert (image not shown).

The decal sheet provides two Eagle logos for the inside of the vertical stabs. Unfortunately, when observing closely you will notice that they are identical. This means that there is no Eagle logo provided for the right vertical stabilizer. Upon contacting Twobobs about the problem, I was advised that they would be providing a link on their homepage for people to order a free addendum logo. At the time of this review, the new Eagle logo is being printed. Hobby shops and distributors are to receive the new inserts soon.

Printing difficulties aside, I do recommend this decal sheet to anyone with an interest in the F-15 Eagle. The addendum Eagle logo should prove to be only a minor headache. Twobobs strive to achieve accuracy in their decals, and I am sure modelers will be satisfied.

Review sample compliments of Twobobs Aviation Graphics.
