Twobobs Aviation Graphics | Patriot Hornets in 1/32nd Scale 32-016
Reviewed by Mark Proulx
Twobobs Aviation Graphics has just released a colorful set of markings for two F-18's of the U.S. Navy and Marines of Operation Iraqi Freedom. This is a review of the new 1/32nd scale decal sheet.
The modeler is supplied with markings to build two F/A-18A+ variants in low-viz gray schemes. They are:
- VMFA-115 CAG BuNo 163133
- VFA-201 CAG BuNo 162094
It is important to note that the sheet is titled F/A-18Cs but the aircraft are F/A-18A+ variants as depicted. I am sure these decals are meant to be used with the Academy kit, which is an F/A-18C. At the time of this review no other Academy variant is available. Therefore, conversion sets are required, as stated in the listing of available aftermarket items.
Twobobs continue their familiar design layout for the instructions. Complete views are included, with nine thumbnail images of supporting data. Painting instructions make reference to FS 595b color chips. Available paints from Testors, Humbrol, Gunze Sangyo and Xtracolor are cross-referenced.
Microscale Industries in the United States prints the decals over three pages. There are sufficient formation light strips, national insignias and stencils to complete one aircraft. The decals are printed in perfect register and the carrier film is hardly visible. I am confident that modelers will find little difficulty with these decals, though I have not tried them myself.
Twobobs Aviation Graphics continues to offer some of the most accurate markings available for today's modern aircraft. They have a large product line of decals in all popular scales and may be viewed at their website here.
Review sample compliments of Twobobs Aviation Graphics.
