Barracuda Studios | BR32411: 1/32 Avro Lancaster WWII Radio Upgrade Set
Reviewed by Kevin Futter
Barracuda Studios continues to expand its BarracudaCast range of resin upgrade and detail sets with a new radio upgrade set for HK Model's 1/32 scale Lancaster kit. Quoting from Barracuda's product information:
This set consists of a pair of accurate, superdetailed British T1154 (transmitter) and R1155 (receiver) radios with separately molded knobs for ease of painting, and full stencil, placard and dial decals. Electrical connectors are also supplied along with full color, illustrated instruction that includes a wiring diagram. For your 1/32nd scale WWII era Lancaster or can be displayed on a bench in a diorama setting. Suitable for many British WWII multi-place aircraft.
This is quite a simple set, consisting of a pair of casting blocks containing all the required parts:
Casting quality is excellent, as is the level of included detail:
Also included is a pair of tiny decal sheets, containing various dial and stenciling details:
The decals are nicely printed, being very fine and precise. My low-resolutions scans definitely do not do them justice! Note that the sheets are labelled as being for the Mosquito set BR32262, but this set is in fact identical to that one.
Conclusion
This is a simple set that provides a superior British radio for your HK Models Lancaster build, and it will in all likelihood be perfectly suitable for the upcoming Wingnut Wings kit, too. It can even be used for Mosquito builds, should you not be able to obtain the identical set marketed for them. The inclusion of stencil decals is the icing on the cake of another terrific upgrade set from Barracuda.
Thanks to Barracuda Studios for the review sample.
