Barracuda Studios | BR32338: 1/32 Scale Spitfire Mk IX Cockpit Door with Crowbar
Reviewed by Kevin Futter
BarracudaCast, out of Roy Sutherland's Barracuda Studios, has just released a range of resin upgrade items aimed primarily at Revell's new Spitfire Mk IX kits. Here we take a look at set BR32338, which the packaging describes like so:
This set contains a detailed, accurate Spitfire cockpit access door with detail a separately molded crowbar for easy painting. Designed for Revell's Mk IX.
This is a very simple upgrade set, consisting of only two resin parts:
The casting is crisp and flawless, with no pin holes, resin flash or other imperfections visible anywhere. There is a sturdy casting block to remove, but some care with a razor saw should take care of that. Just be extra careful with that delicate crowbar! Also note that the photos show the door part to be thin enough to be translucent.
A small sheet of instructions is included in the package, which describes the simple process of removing, preparing, and installing the parts.
Conclusion
The included detail is amazing, and it should be obvious that this part is intended to be displayed in the open position. As such, kit upgrade sets don't come any simpler to use than this. If you have the Revell Spitfire Mk IX kit, and would like to improve the look of the cockpit access door, then this set is highly recommended!
Thanks to Roy Sutherland and Barracuda Studios for the review sample.
