Reviewed by Iain Ogilvie
Following on from earlier releases on the I.A.R.80/81 theme from RB Productions in support of the FFROM/Special Hobby kits, we have a new sheet designed for the FRROM I.A.R.80 kit.
Featuring eight I.A.R.80 aircraft in a variety of schemes:
- I.A.R.80 Number 2, Escadrila de Experiente, August 1940
- I.A.R.80 Number 3, flown by Elev. Av. Ciobanas Andrei, Sc.Vt/Flt. 3Vt., Galati, October 1943
- I.A.R.80 Number 9, flown by Adj.Stg.Av. Vasile Nita, Gr.8Vt/Flt.2Vt, Tirgsor, March 1941
- I.A.R.80 Number 17,flown by Adj.Stag.Av Florian Badu, Birlad, July 1941
- I.A.R.80 Number 22, flown by Adj.Stg.Av. Gheorghe Firmide, Birlad, July 1941
- I.A.R.80 Number 26, I.A.R. Brasov, March 1941
- I.A.R.80 Number 42, Esc.42/52 Vt., August 1941
- I.A.R.80 Number 44 of Flt.2 Vt./Gr.8Vt., Tirgsor, March 1941
As with previous decal sheets from RB Productions, this sheet is beautifully printed by Fantasy Printshop, with great colous/depth, perfect register and excellent detail. Having used a similar sheet on my earlier I.A.R.81C build I can vouch for their quality and ease of use.
As with RB Productions other accessories for the I.A.R.80/81 family, these decals include full placement guides in colour, colour references for RLM and FS595a specifications and a potted history of each subject:
More details about the I.A.R.80/81 family of aircraft can be found in this superb book, written by Radu, reviewed here:"VÂNĂTOR - Romainian Hunter - The I.A.R.80 and I.A.R.81 in ultimate detail".
Conclusion
If you're planning on building the new FRROM I.A.R.80 kit I can highly recommended this sheet.
This decal sheet is available directly from RB Productions at €14.75 plus postage.
