AK Interactive | 2015 Product Catalogue
Reviewed by Kevin Futter
Spanish firm AK Interactive has, in a relatively short space of time, become quite well-known for its finishing and weathering products, of which it sports an extensive range. It should be no surprise then, that the company publishes a hefty catalogue of its products - many manufacturers do. They are, however, rarely worthy of being the subject of a review in their own right. This 2015 edition from AK Interactive, however, is no ordinary catalogue of products.
At 178 pages, this monster publication not only includes the expected product list, but also an extensive set of explanatory articles, how-to guides and product tech sheets. These encompass explanations of scale colour and colour modulation, as well as a full paint conversion chart for several popular brands. There's a brief look at the company's paint development process, and a series of product usage guides at the end of the book. There's really an amazing amount of useful information in this book, way beyond what you'd normally expect to find in this class of publication.
Conclusion
The production values are top-notch, with great photos printed on heavy, glossy paper. It's fair to say that the preponderance of content (both products and articles) is geared towards armour modellers, but there's still plenty on offer for aircraft modellers. The cover price of 8 euros is a bargain, but what's even more amazing is that you can download a PDF version of the catalogue from the AK Interactive website for free. So, there's virtually no excuse for anyone not to have a copy, and I recommend you do!
Thanks to AK Interactive for the review sample.
