Eagle Editions | EagleCals EC#164: Do 335 Pfeil

We truly live in the Golden Age of modelling, and especially so if you build large scale planes. Who'd have thought that we'd have the prospect of not one, but two 1/32 Do 335 kits to contend with, each slated to be available in multiple versions. Even better, Eagle Editions has now released a set of replacement decals for the Do 335A series aircraft. There's currently no injection-moulded 1/32 A-series kit on the market, but both HK Models and Zoukei-Mura have plans to release such kits, and there is always the vacuform kits available from Combat Models and Tigger Models.

Decals are provided for the following four aircraft:

The decals themselves are supplied on two sheets, exquisitely printed by Cartograf:

The printing is crisp and clear, with both colour density and registration being perfect:

As is common these days, the swastikas have been presented in two parts, which need to be assembled into the final image on the model. Rather than being split into two identical halves (left/right or top/bottom, for example), they are separated into inner and outer sections:

Conclusion

This package is a worthy alternative to any kit-supplied decals, with the only downside being the lack of extant kits. This will of course be rectified soon enough, and this set will be ready and waiting. The quality of the decals themselves is beyond reproach, and I can highly recommend them.

Thanks to Eagle Editions for the review sample.
