Eagle Editions | EP58-32: “Cigar Shaped” Drop Tank
Reviewed by Mark Proulx
Eagle Editions has released a resin “cigar shaped” drop tank for the 1/32nd scale Hasegawa Fw 190 Dora. The set consists of four resin pieces, decals and instructions.
The resin tank is patterned after drawings and measurements taken from an actual drop tank. The illustrated instructions detail many of the unique features attributed to this external tank, as they are evident on the resin parts.
The resin tank is comprised of three pieces. Front and rear halves as well as a separate filler cap. The molding is superb with small items like welding seems and brackets perfectly duplicated. A small casting block needs to be removed from each half of the tank and this is easily accomplished.
The ETC 504 rack is also provided. Again, the resin copy is based on photos of a surviving sample. The rack is provided without sway braces, though they are provided with the Hasegawa kit.
To accurately finish the drop tank, Eagle Editions provides complete stencils and placement details.
This is a very simple set to complete and I am sure modelers will have no difficulty with it. The attention to detail is clearly evident. I recommend this to anyone wanting to accurately capture all the subtle details of the Fw 190D.
Review sample compliments of Eagle Editions.
