Scale Aircraft Conversions | #32077 F-104 Starfighter Landing Gear for 1/32 Hasegawa Kits
Reviewed by Ray Peterson
A recent release from Scale Aircraft Conversions is this new accessory set for the venerable Hasegawa 1/32 F-104 series of kits. The set includes the main landing gear and nose gear as well as the actuators. It is nice to see some attention given to older kits.
This set is simply meant to be a direct replacement for the kit’s plastic landing gear, providing the modeler the option to go with white metal instead of plastic. While the casting is quite good, most of the details are unchanged and any defects of the kit parts, such as molding seams, are therefore replicated on the SAC parts.
I still am not happy with the softness of the alloy used. The F-104 has spindly gear. The SAC gear is of course just as spindly as the kit gear and bends quite easily. With the way the F-104 gear sits, I am not sure whether the SAC gear will bend over time or not. Also, the actuators are really spindly and it may be an adventure getting and keeping them straight in this medium. It may be better using the kit parts in this instance.
Only Recommended if needed to replace broken kit parts.
Thanks to Scale Aircraft Conversions for the review set.
