Scale Aircraft Conversions | #32075 Spitfire Mk. II/Vb/VI Landing Gear for the 1/32 Hasegawa Family of Kits
Reviewed by Ray Peterson
A recent release from Scale Aircraft Conversions is this new accessory set for the venerable Hasegawa 1/32nd Spitfire V series of kits. The set includes the main landing gear and tail gear fork as well as main and tail wheels. It is nice to see some attention given to these older kits.
This set is simply meant to be a direct replacement for the kit’s plastic landing gear and wheels, providing the modeler the option to go with white metal instead of plastic. It does combine the two main wheel halves into a single casting. While the casting is quite good, most of the details are unchanged and any defects of the kit parts, such as molding seams, are therefore replicated on the SAC parts.
I still am not happy with the softness of the alloy used. The Spitfire has spindly gear. The SAC gear is of course just as spindly as the kit gear and bends quite easily. With the way the Spitfire gear splays, I am not sure the SAC gear will not bend over time.
Only Recommended if needed to replace broken kit parts.
Thanks to Scale Aircraft Conversions for the review set.
