Profimodeller | #32182: Pitot Tube Meteor

Reviewed by Kevin Futter

One of the weak points on almost any plastic scale aircraft model is the pitot tube, and having already built the HK Models Meteor, I can confirm that it shares this characteristic. Despite every effort not to, I broke the thin tip off the end of it, and never could get it back on neatly. It actually ruins the model for me!

Czech firm Profimodeller has come to the rescue with a replacement pitot tube for the HK Models Meteor from turned brass.

As you would expect, this is a very simple piece of kit, though a slight modification to the kit part is required for proper installation. This modification is neatly explained in the accompanying instruction sheet.

The part itself is hollow at the business end, while the other end forms a locating lug for installation:

Conclusion

As a confirmed devotee of replacing plastic pitot tubes with metal equivalents where possible, I believe this is a must-have for your next Meteor build. I highly recommend it to anyone who can cope with the minor modification to the kit part it requires.

Thanks to Profimodeller for the review sample.
