Profimodeller | #32126: MiG-21MF Ejection Seat

Reviewed by Kevin Futter

Czech firm Profimodeller has released a replacement MiG-21MF ejection seat and control stick set for the Trumpeter 1/32 kit.

Inside the box we find the following:

Resin Parts

The ejection seat itself is an intricate, single-piece casting, complete with strap and harness detail on the front, and piping and wiring detail on the back.

I had enormous trouble taking clear and detailed photos of the parts, so the ones I present here do not do them justice at all. The parts are crisply cast from well-detailed masters, and should look very fine indeed once painted and weathered.

The remaining resin parts include a separate head rest, some detail parts for the seat, and a separate two-part control stick.

The lower section of the control stick had snapped off its moulded base part on my sample (far right in the photo above), but this should glue straight back into place without fuss.

Photo-etched Fret

The photo-etched fret is quite a simple affair, containing a few detail pieces for the seat:

Instructions

The instructions consist of a single A-5 sheet, printed on both sides.

The first section incorporates a parts diagram, with most of the rest dedicated to small assembly diagrams for the photo-etched pieces. No painting suggestions are given, so some research may well be required in that area.

Conclusion

Apart from some potentially fiddly photo-etched parts, this appears to be a relatively straightforward replacement for the ejection seat in the Trumpeter MiG-21MF kit. It provides a high level of detail and should present an experienced modeller with few difficulties. Recommended!

Thanks to Profimodeller for the review sample.
