Scratchbuilders | 1/32 Resin Boulton Paul Defiant
Reviewed by Ron Patterson
We recently had an interesting thread started in the forums titled "the hardest to find".
This kit certainly falls under this category. I had not had an opportunity to see inside this kit until I managed to purchase one a few months back. I thought others maybe interested in seeing whats in the box, so here we go.
All major components are hollow case in tan resin which is not brittle and slightly flexible.
The Fuselage is broken down into four major components, cowl, main fuselage, tail and empennage.
The wings are also hollow cast and broken down into six components representing the center wing section and outer wing panels.
The propeller and spinner:
Turret parts:
Ailerons, radiator, carb intake and turtle deck:
The landing gear doors and wheels. One may want to swap these wheels out for as set of Hurricane wheels as they are rather crude.
They provide a decent start to the cockpit interior
Misc. white metal bits. Most will require straightening and cleaning up with a file.
The clear parts appear to be usable although an extra set would have been a really nice touch. With such a rare kit, it would be a horror story to mess these up.
Overall the kit is very complete but will clearly be a challenge to even the most skilled modeler.
