Scratch-built 1/24 F-105 at the Exeter Model Show 2001
By Wayne Bowman
I attended the "Exeter" show this weekend, it is a yearly event that's held just a little east of Toronto. Owing to the arrival of my baby daughter (Erin) a couple of months ago (and my ongoing struggle to finish my basement) I wasn't able to enter anything this year, but with Erin in tow, I did manage to attend and take some pictures. There was a lot of good 1/48 stuff there but only one "large scale" aircraft on display. But what an impression it made. It was a 1/24 F-105D Thud. It was HUGE. I didn't get to meet the builder, the 1/24 F-105 was scratch built by Ron Lowry. I almost had to stand at the other end of the room to fit it all in the frame.
