Takom 1/35 AH-64D Apache

By George Fuhrmann

Here is my AH-64D Block II Apache. I planned on the model sitting on some sort of base.

While searching for some pictures as reference and ideas I found the crew figures loading Hellfires and Hydras from a company called R2 Miniatures. So, I ordered them. Quite expensive and only available from Japan but totally worth it. So, I decided on building a FARP scene (Forward Arming and Refueling Point).

The next idea was to make a big scene using the TV board as a base, adding a Kiowa helicopter and fuel truck. But looking at the older models I wanted to prevent them from getting dusty. The next idea was getting a few 40x50cm picture frames (a couple of all the same ones), removing the original backplate, and inserting a piece of insulating board (the hard foam kind) and building up the scene within the frame.

I also ordered a fitted perspex/plexiglas cover at www.sora.de , measuring the inner part of the picture frame and a height high enough to clear the model. Now I will not have the dust build up.

Enjoy!
