Trumpeter 1/32 EE F.6 Lightning
By Derek Bradshaw
About nine years after starting Lightning F.6 XS904, it is now finished! I have built it for a friend of mine, who obviously has the patience of a saint!
There have been many trials and tribulations with this build over the years with practically everything either corrected, modified, detailed or scratch-built, much too many things to list. The only area of the kit not extensively modified is the windscreen and canopy, but even this is a much improved Aerocraft Models replacement part which drastically improves the appearance of the model (a big thanks to @Ali62 for this) and is the only aftermarket concession I have made, as all other improvement work was by hand using very basic tools and techniques.
Note: I served at RAF Binbrook on these aircraft between 1977 to 1982 as a Survival Equipment Fitter ('Squipper'), eventually ending up working at 5 Sqn in the Flying Clothing Section. As an honorary member of the LPG, I was chock man on this aircraft for its last high-speed taxi run at Bruntingthorpe on the November 2019 Twilight run.
For more information on this nine-year project, check out my build thread in the Work in Progress forum.
