Kitty Hawk 1/32 Mirage 2000D, Converted to a 2000B

By Olivier Barles

Here are a few pics of my Mirage 2000 B, made out of the 2000 D from Trumpeter.

As I could only find a kit of the 2000 D after a couple of years of chasing a 2000 C (the single seat fighter version), to allow me to recreate a nice blue grey scheme, my only option was to convert the original D-Type from the Kitty Hawk box into a B.

Because the manufacturer used some similar parts to either build the single seat fighter 2000 C or the bomber 2000 D, there were no real problems in creating a 2000 B by mixing some parts, B being the two-seat trainer that shares the same blue grey colors used on the 2000 C (when the D is painted in green – gray).

It was an uneventful build despite some fitting approximations for some parts and using an original painting for which I needed to create my own decals for squadron insignia.
