Trumpeter 1/32 MiG-19S
By Jindřich Kulhavý
I have built Trumpeter's MiG-19 S 1:32 model. I liked the model better when it was in the box.
The first thing that caught my attention were the decals. At first glance they are nice, but the stencils are unusable for the German or Russian version as everything is either in English or transliterated to Cyrillic! That's why I made the decals myself.
The construction of the model is not easy, the basic hull of the plane consists of up to 8 parts, you must pay attention to the horizontal, vertical and longitudinal planes.
I used the Reskit MiG-19 wheels set and Pavla Models MiG-19 Cockpit set and a vacuform canopy. The wings do not have pins embedded in the fuselage and simply butt to the fuselage. The big problem is its profile of the wing, it is wrong and corresponds to the 1940s and is unsolvable. I decided on the cannon version; I spent a lot of putty and time on the place where the cannons are. The model is heavy, and the chassis is not metal, so I added a support.
I didn't weather the model plane and present it as new; I remember these planes were always polished and very clean.
Building the model is difficult, but the result is worth it.
