Trumpeter 1/32 F-117A Nighthawk
By Luc Janssen
Introduction
This kit is of the standard Trumpeter quality, but reference pictures must be checked constantly as Trumpeter included antennas and fairings that I could not find on photos.
For the cockpit, I used parts of the Aires aftermarket kit, but it didn’t fit correctly, and I had to adapt parts and pieces. I finished the interior with a Quinta Studio set which gave a nice and realistic view of the cockpit. For the ejection seat, I used the older Reheat Models kit and gave it more details and the safety belts from Quinta Studio.
I used weighted wheels from Armory. The landing gear in the kit is rather simple and I added some break lines and supplementary small details.
To keep the sleek lines of the model, I kept the bomb bay closed and the flaps and tailplanes horizontally. I didn’t detail the interior of the wheel wells.
Aftermarket sets
I used following sets:
- Reheat Models: Ejection Seat
- Quinta Studio: 1/32 F-117A Nighthawk Interior 3D Decal
- Aires: F-117A Nighthawk
- Armory: F-117A Nighthawk weighted tires
Decals
The decals came from the box and are of very good quality.
Paints
I used paints from AK, MRP, ModelMaster, Vallejo, Alclad and Humbrol.
Weathering
All the weathering was done with pastels.
