Trumpeter 1/24 A6M2 Zero
By Jindřich Kulhavý
Here are some photos of my new Trumpeter 1/24th A6M2 Zero model. This scene is based on a photo I found on the internet of a Queen Mary trailer (a British semi-trailer combination designed for the carriage and recovery of aircraft) and a fully disassembled Zero, being recovered somewhere in the Pacific. The photo absolutely enchanted me.
The scene also includes an Emhar Bedford truck, ICM figures, and a lot of different Evergreen Scale Models plastic shapes.
The Queen Mary trailer was scratch-built based on photos taken while visiting the RAF Museum in Hendon, plus details from an Airfix Magazine which included scale plans.
Humbrol and Tamiya paints were used. The decals were all self-made.
Originally, I wanted to make a port and trans-shipment point in Alaska with a crane, etc., but I dropped that because I have a small apartment! Even so the diorama ended up being 80cm x 25cm.
I hope you find the images interesting.
