Special Hobby 1/32 Whirlwind
By Olivier Barles
Here is my Special Hobby 1/32 Whirlwind.
The kit was not so easy to build as one of the fuselage halves was torn at the tail and gave me a few fitting headaches.
Engraving on the fuselage was also very light, so I decided to re-engrave the panel lines and rivets so they can be more visible and properly used at weathering time.
Otherwise, I always liked this plane since I was offered the 1/72 scale Airfix model in the seventies when I was a kid (truth is I always loved the look of those British twin engines fighters developed during WWII like the Whirlwind, the Mosquito or the Hornet…).
Finally, I decided to go for different markings than the ones proposed by Special Hobby. I found the markings as provided in the 1998 Classic Airframes edition of their 1/48 Whirlwind... et voilà!..
