Trumpeter 1/32 P-47D-20
By John Stambaugh
Here is my P-47D-20 from Trumpeter.
Great kit. Very tight fit. I had trouble getting the fuselage to come together around the supercharger duct work. Probably my fault.
- Eduard PE interior
- Quickboost gun site, as kit part is way oversize
- Barracuda wheels
- SAC struts
- Barracuda decals for 78th Fighter Squadron, Duxford, England 1944
I drilled out the exhaust pipes, as the kit simply depicts them as raised detail. Used brass rod for pipe and brass sheet disk for cut-off. Big improvement.
Special thanks to Ray at LSP for the replacement decals after I pranged the checkerboard decals. To anyone using the Barracuda checkernose decals: The four decals fit well dimensionally, but would not conform well around the compound radius of the front opening. What I had to do was to make a cut at the frontmost checker lengthwise to approximately one-half inch back so that the two parts would overlap. Custom mix of Model Master enamel paint.
Hope you like her! Happy modelling!
