AERO 2005; 15th International Aviation Expo Part 1
By Chris Novak
From Thursday, 21st to Sunday, 24th of April 2005 the 15th AERO, an international commercial Aviation Expo was held in Friedrichshafen/Bodensee. The AERO is a mix of business and fun, lots of manufacturers show (and sell) their products, beginning from complete planes (interested in a brandnew 2-mot-business Cessna?) through the complete range of aviation stuff to UL-planes and gliders. The fun part is done by some special displays, for example a whole Expo-hall filled with historic gliders from the beginning of aviation in Germany, some warbirds and other oldtimers and, for sure, a small but fine airshow on saturday and sunday. Last but not least also some modelling stuff is presented including the whole range from plastic modelling to RC-models. I decided to show the pics of this event in two parts, here are part one – THE REAL STUFF – enjoy!
For sale (interested?): ARGUS AS 410 C, a historic motor in good and working condition, for example working in a Fw 189 UHU in WW II
The German Air Force were also there with a TORNADO and the people were allowed to take a seat!
One of the Highlights: an original Bf 109G-4. This bird is owned by 3 privateers who restored this bird the last 7 years and its based at an small airfield near Stuttgart. One of only a few remaining absolutely rare and airworthy 109s with original Messerschmitt fuselage and wings. The Daimler inside this bird was build from no less than 10! other motors, one more DB is prepared and ready to be changed if necessary. The restoration of this beauty was an absolute secret, only known of a few insiders of the european warbird scene and the plane was officially introduced in September 2004, so this was the first official event to be presented to a great public(on ground and in the air). Let the pics speak:
Here are the two T-6s of father and son (Walter & Toni) Eichhorn, members of the „Flying-Bulls“-collection.
4 (four!) of these Double-winged Antonow monsters were present and in action with passenger flights.
A brand new Eurocopter EC 135 of the german border patrol
Hm...what a type is this...I´m sure I´ve seen it somewhere before...
