Trumpeter 1/32 F-105G Thunderchief
By Philippos Philippopoulos
Well I finished the 1/32 Trumpeter F-105G Wild Weasel, and it was my first attempt in the jet aircraft category and the largest model I ever build! An absolute challenge for my skills because I had to correct the radar cone by using a resin cone, the profile shape of the tail by scratching new angle, and replacing the vertical fin by resin one. Also I use the Aires cockpit set and wheel bays set that were more realistic than the kit one, and metallic landing gears to carry the weight of this monster! Finally I made resin clones of the wheels to avoid and correct the bad quality of the rubbers that Trumpeter gives! So…I tried to do many improvements on a bad model kit testing at the edges my modelling skills in this scale! Does the result worth all that effort for me? Yes absolutely. I learned how different kind of putties act on gaps and shapes. Finally it is an fantastic aircraft that deserves any patience and effort.
