Combat Models 1/32 RF-101C Voodoo
By Larry Hawkins
This is the Combat Models kit of the RF-101C Voodoo. This is one big airplane, almost as big as my F-89D. This is a very basic kit, as all vac kits are.
I scratchbuilt the instrument panel and the cockpit, and used Hasagawa's F-5E ejection seat with harness added. The main and nose landing gear came from an old Revell F-4 kit, while the wheels and tires came from the new Revell F-4E kit. The tail plane is made from solid sheet stock, cut to shape, then sanded to arrive at the final shape. The engines were redone and painted to match the real engines.
The paint I used was autobody car paint from a can. To get the different shades of aluminum, I used paint and furnace tape. Decals came from the scrap box, except for the U.S. Air Force which I received from Mike Grant, without his help, I never would have finished this model. Thanks Mike.
