Tamiya 1/32 F4U-1 in GSB
By John Bardwell
This is my 4th birdcage Corsair and probably my last. I decided to do this one in overall Gloss Sea Blue just to have one with a different look. I used a combination of Model Master Gloss Sea Blue and White Ensign GSB for the exterior, main gear wheel wells and wing folds. As this a/c had been overhauled and repainted completely I figured the cockpit was likely redone in Interior Green instead of being left in the original Dark Green so that's what I did using some White Ensign Interior Green. Maybe I'm right and maybe not. The only after market pieces are the seat belts from FineMolds. I also added the wiring on the engine using lead wire (see my WIP thread in the forums). I used Barracuda decals but decided to do a different a/c than the one on Roy's sheet because of the difference in the extended tail wheel yokes. So, instead of #485 it's #458 as I expect, rightly or wrongly again, that there was probably one with that number in that training squadron. And I didn't have to try to scratch the funky looking tail wheel yoke mod.
