Hasegawa 1/32 Bf 109G-6 AS
By Tolga Ulgur
This is 1/32 Hasegawa Messerschmitt Bf 109G-6 AS with the markings of Friedrich Karl Müller’s Red 2 from 1./NJGr in August 1944. I easily decided to built Müller’s Red 2 when I saw Anders Hjortsberg’s amazing profile in falkeeins.blogspot.co.uk.
The base kit is Hasegawa Bf 109G-10. It needs some backdating issues to convert it to G6-AS. I started with the cockpit components as usual. Cockpit set is from MDC. It’s painted to RLM 66.
Bulges on the front sides of the fuselage are deleted by sanding. Oil cooler replaced by an earlier one from my spare box. It needs some surgery and sanding operations to be able having an accurate view of G6 AS asymmetrical cowling. Hope that now, it looks like an AS cowling.
Horizontal tail surfaces are from Master details #32021. Lower surfaces painted to black with Tamiya acrylic paint. Upper surfaces painted to RLM 74/75 with Gunze Sangyo acrylics. Exhaust are from Quickboost. Hasegawa’s wrong shape spinner replaced by EagleParts #20-32 resin part.
Finally wheels replaced by Barracudacast goodies.
National insignias are from “Kits World KW132024” decal set. I have used Hasegawa’s decal sheet for the “Red 2” numbers on the fuselage. And kill marks in the rudder from another Hasegawa G-10 kit decal sheet.
Happy Modelling & Carpe diem.
