Tamiya 1/32 F4U-1 Corsair
By LSP Ron
This build was pretty much out of the box with the exception of using Eagle Editions FAA decals - F4U-1 Birdcage Corsairs Part 3 (#152-32) and the addition of ignition wires for the engine. All other details are kit supplied. Painting was done free hand airbrushed using Model Master enamels following the painting guide supplied with the decal set.
There are several pictures provided in the decal sheet showing FAA Corsairs with one wing folded. I opted to model this build as shown in the pictures. It saves some shelf space yet shows what the plane looks like with wings folded and straight in one build. Weathering was done with a combination of Tamiya weathering pastels and artist oil washes.
I believe this kit is likely the best 1/32 aircraft kit Tamiya has ever produced.
