Special Hobby 1/32 Brewster Buffalo 339C "Dutch"
By Mal Belford
This is my Brewster Buffalo 339C "Dutch" flown by Van Helsdingen Singapore 1941-42.
The kit is Special Hobby 1:32.
This model was not easy a easy build, lots and lots of issues, bad fit, but it was truly fun to build, did some scratch work such as ignition cables on the engine and few control sticks in the cockpit. Most of the colors are home brews using Tamiya color (mixing) for the camo and the insignias, Alclad and some Vallejo. The landing lights and position lights were all scratch built since the model's were not good enough, the whole model were riveted, looked at blueprints and real footage of a crashed Buffalo from a museum so I could place the rivets as close as possible. This is my first try to rivet a whole model, info were very sparse on this aircraft, rest were qualified guessing, think I got pretty close. Also my first experience on a short run model, I will for sure build another one.
All the insignias are painted except the Rhino and the numbers.
The weathering technique I used was salt, and the washes that I used is Flory Washes.
This is my No:11 since my restart last year (haven't built in 19 years), I keep them numbered in chronological order on planes that I finished since my restart.
There is a build thread for this model in the LSP forums.
