Fisher 1/32 Hawker Sea Fury FB.11
By Adam Dormer
Here is my competed Fisher 1/32 Hawker Sea Fury FB.11. It´s finished in RAN 805 Sqdn markings circa Korean War 1950/51 flying off HMAS Sydney.
Got to say this on the whole was a fun build. I really wanted to build a Aussie Sea Fury, so I used the Aussie Decals set. The "K" on the fin I ended up masking. On the whole, this is a wonderful kit and just a work of art to build. I added a lot of hydraulic lines in the wheel well, plus some electrical boxes and wires there too. The cockpit is really something to behold (master by Roy Sutherland).
The main thing I did to the surface was rivet it and scribe along the rivet lines to reproduce that oil canning effect seen on aeroplanes of this era. Many photos I´ve seen have this surface effect as do the Sea Furys I´ve seen in the flesh. The rivets mostly disappeared under "Mr Surfacer 1200", as they do under the thick paint in real life.
If you want to build a accurate Sea Fury, I certainly recommend this kit - it´s not cheap, but to me it was worth it.
