VFS 1/24 P-40B

By Tim Wilson

This is pretty much an out-of-the-box build of the VFS 1/24th P-40 in the markings of William Reed of the AVG. The only major additions I did on this kit involved deepening the cockpit with scrap plastic and bits from the spare parts box, as well as lengthening the truncated seat that came with the kit. I also scribed a few new panel lines and sanded down some of the problem areas such as the radio access hatch and the trailing edge of the wing root. I scratch-built the AVG reflector sight from plasticard. The kit was painted with model master enamels and weathered with the same, as well as a mixture of water, detergent and acrylic paint that I used to make a "sludge" for shading panel lines & other hard-to-reach places.
