Revell 1/35th Bell H-13
By Jim Merrigan
These are based on Revells' 1/35th scale Bell H-13 MASH helicopter. The first picture is the MASH helicopter built straight out of the box.
The second picture is the Navy Bell HTL-1 version. The fuselage has been closed in from bubble to tail rotor, I used card for that, the grill work behind the cowling openings is plastic mesh used for needle point (one sheet should dome forever). The tail rotor guard was modified. The floats are after market by Cobra.
The third picture is a shot of the H-13 and the HTL-1 together for comparison and a shot of the Wingding. Documentation can be found in Squadron/Signals H-13 Souix mini in action book.
The fourth picture is of the Bell Wingding. This was Bells idea of upgrading the lift capabilities of the Bell Model 47 by adding a wing. I did the same thing, since I had no specs I approximated the wingspan by proportioning a photograph. The licence number on the wing is the same as on the actual aircraft. The wing was fabricated from the outer panels of a 1/4th scale Tigercat, the wing tanks are modified GP bombs.
All pictures were take at NJIPMS meetings.
