1/32 Fw 283 Ramjet
By James Merrigan
Here is my 1/32nd scale Focke Wulf Fw 283 proposed ramjet fighter. The model is just about completely kit bashed. The fuselage is fabricated from parts of Revell's Me 262 and P-51B, the wings are outer F-14 wing panels, vertical and horizontal tail is made from plastic card. The ramjets started out as Excedrin bottles The picture was taken at the NJIPMS January meeting.
I'd like to take this opportunity to tell you something of myself and my model collection. I'm a 69 year old retired engineering technology professor, I've been building model airplanes of one kind or another for the last sixty years. This is my fourth collection, it spans the last thirty years. There are over 400 built models in the collection. The collection is 1/32nd scale (some 1/35 scale), it takes up most of my basement. I build in injection moulded plastic, vacuum form, resin, wood, paper card, or any combination of the above. At least !/4 of the collection is either scratchbuilt or kit bashed (that's over 100 models).
I have a lot of books and a lot of models, and every once in a while I look over both and say "hey I can build that".
