Azur 1/32 Polikarpov I-16 Rata
By Gino Dykstra
I wrote a review of this kit some time ago, and thought it might be nice to show how the build-up finally came out. I didn't encounter any serious fit problems with the model, although as noted in the review, the control panel didn't fit all that well into the fuselage. The top of the wings were a bit poor, but since this is a largely wooden airplane with relatively few panel lines, it wasn't that much of a job getting everything smooth and nicely contoured.
As you can see, adding the Williams Brothers engine behind the carved-open engine vents added a bit to the look as well. If I do a winter one in the future (and that's virtually certain) I'll leave the vents closed for a nice contrast.
