These two 1:32 scale plastic model kits are produced by the Williams Brothers company here in the U.S.A.

I bought and built the kits in the mid 1980s. My color images say that I built the “GEE BEE Z” in 1986 and the “R” model in 1988.

I did not take any “in-progress” building photos back in those days so all I have to show are a few finished images.

The “Z” model was painted yellow all over, then it was masked off and the black paint was applied. Next, I mask off the black and yellow paint leaving a tiny 1/64” separation space then airbrushed on the red color.

I purchased some thin modeling wire at the local model hobby shop and applied it to the model per the kit instructions.

The kit decals were applied to the model and it was finished.

The “R” model was assembled and I did the same thing to it by applying the white paint first, then the red and the black separation line.

Both models won local award in IPMS Region #9-Northern California and both models took awards at the annual IPMS/USA National Conventions.

This was an achievement that I was proud to own, since I was a new member of the local IPMS-San Jose, California club, including being a member of IPMS/USA.

Enjoy the photos.

Rodney

P.S. The models still look excellent even being 25+ years old.
