A Pair of Matchbox Spitfires
By Tony O'Toole
Another one from the cabinet, this Seafire FR.47 was converted from the 1/32nd scale Matchbox/Revell Spitfire 22/24 kit using an early version of the resin Freightdog Models conversion set. Since I built this one Colin has added extra parts for the wheels, wing bulges etc and a vacuformed canopy plus a decal sheet and he does an FR.46 conversion too. Although the original kit isn`t the best ever, the conversion kit really does help to lift it and makes a very different looking model, I hope you like it.
Having built a Seafire 47 from the 1/32nd scale Matchbox Spitfire 22/24 kit I decided to have a go at building the kit straight from the box as a Spitfire 22 and here it is, wearing the decals from the latest Revell boxing to represent my 'local' squadron, 613 (City of Manchester) Sqn, based at RAF Ringway (now Manchester International Airport!).
