Modellbau Bodensee 2005/1st official LSP-Europe Meeting 2005 Part 1

By Chris Novak

Hi mates, here´s the report from the 1st official LSP-Europe meeting (kindly supported and appreciated by the LSP-staff, thanx mates!) held at the annual "Modellbau-Bodensee"(Modell Expo Bodensee) at Friedrichshafen /Germany at the weekend 18/19/20. November. The whole expo continues growing from year to year and is still on the best way to become one of Germanys main-events for modelling, together with the events in Nürnberg (Spielwarenmesse/Toy-expo) and Dortmund (Inter-Modellbau). The expo contains 4 Halls of the fair-area in Friedrichshafen and includes all modelling related stuff like RC-planes and trucks, trains, ships, paper-modelling, plastic-modelling and lots of distributors for materials, tools, machines and and and. This report only shows the plastic-modelling in Hall A5 and, for sure, especially the LSP- display which was placed in our local club-area/display as "special-guests"(thanx to our clubs staff !)

Unfortunately the announced "LSP-EUROPE" meeting turned out to be a "LSP-GERMANY" meeting because of some refusals of already announced european members (ok guys, next year ;-) ) but, nevertheless, the present members had a nice time and I hope (no, i´m sure!) all European LSP-members who could not manage it to come this year will take this report as an "appetizer"!

Let me introduce the LSP´ers first, here they are:

Left to right: Chris "the ripper" Novak (man.....my "front" is becoming bigger and bigger....), Dr. Menelaos Skourtopoulos, Chris "Hannover" Kirchhoff and LSP-guest Bekim Lulaij (Bekim has temporarily signed in as "guest" at the LSP forum because of changing his Internet connection but his work is well known from from other forums too)

Here´s the LSP-display where we, for sure, had a bit of promo like sheets with the LSP-logos and other infos and it was kinda funny how many visitors know the board and the works posted there (visitors-question to Chris Kirchhoff: ".......is this the Dora I´ve seen in the web on this modelling –page?")

Ok, the LSP-members work in detail, let´s tart with Bekim: Nice display of a heavily modified old REVELL "Dora" (can also be seen in ARC gallery)

Also from Bekim is this nice and also heavily modified old REVELL stang he has just finished and which he did as an order-job for a customer. Beautyful looking bird in rarely seen markings of the "red-tailed-angels".

Bekims actual project is a total-conversion of the old REVELL "Dora" to become a D-15, powered by a Daimler-Benz. A nice display to show the work of a "scratchbuilder".

Men at work!.......Doc and Chris!

"Doc´s"- birds in detail: TF- 104G, Hellenic Air Force

F5-A, Hellenic Air Force

F4-F Phantom II, JG 73, Bundesluftwaffe

F4-F Phantom II, JG 74, Bundesluftwaffe

F4-F Phantom II, JASDF

F4-E Phantom II, Hellenic Air Force

...and Doc can also do props!.....F2G "Super Corsair", heavily modified old REVELL kit!

Chris Kirchhoff's display in "detail": Bf 109G-10

Bf 109F-2, old REVELL with Aires conversion

Bf 109G-6, HASEGAWA

He 162, REVELL

Fw 190D, REVELL with Aires/Eagle-Editions conversion

Last but not least: the "massacre"!.....oops.....the "rippers" work: As some of you may know I´m thinking "big" (...but my psycho-doc says i´m doing good progress in my therapy...) and therefore normally I`m showing "themes" at my displays. The next pics show the work of the last year, the "Late-war-navy-collection", depicting Navy birds from late 45 in the "glossy-blue over all" scheme.
