Hasegawa 1/32 Bf 109G-6 Trop

This is an Hasegawa 1/32 Bf 109G-6 Trop, painted with Gunze acrylics with Chris Bushbridge decals.

The plane belongs to Maj. Antonio Vizzotto, commander of the 150th Fighter Group (known as “Gigi Tre Osei”) of Regia Aeronautica, based in Sciacca (Sicily) in 1943.

The peculiarity of the model lies in the fact that these Messerschmitt were transferred to the Italian Air Force after being picked up by the Luftwaffe warehouses or operational departments; then, Italian specialists hastily erased the German insignia covering them with irregular patches of Italian paint, looking - more or less - to resume the previous camouflage, and finally overlapped codes and Italian brands (bundles and crosses). But the signs of the old brands yet seen, especially on the wings…
