Revell 1/32 Hawker P.1127

By Stephen Priestley-Dean

This one has been a fight all the way. I purchased the 1/32 Revell GR.1 for £10 with a view to make a T2 but alas it didn't work out. I'm told the kit was a P1127 so couldn't be a GR.1. So some research and P.1127 (RAF) it was. I used the Tim McLelland Harrier book as reference; so to summarise the cockpit was built up, the airbrake was rebuilt, the wing leading edge at the root has been reprofiled (no saw tooth), the fillet in front of the forward exhaust has been reprofiled. The housing aft of the rudder has been extended with the grubbing added for the parachute. Aftermarket stuff was the Quickboost Lightning seat but modified the head box accordingly, the nose probe was actually a 1/24 Master Model pitot tube for a Sea Harrier!. Painted using Alclad paints and weathered with various Tamiya pastels. The biggest disappointment for me is the way the intake doors turned out, could have done better.
